Kaine to address DNC Tuesday evening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – U.S. Senate candidate Timothy M. Kaine will address this year’s Democratic National Convention Tuesday night between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The former Virginia governor is a well-known figure among party faithful, having served as Democratic National Committee chairman until last year when he announced his Senate bid.

In his speech, Kaine is expected to draw a sharp contrast between the visions of Democrats and that of Republicans in this year’s election.

Kaine is locked in a close contest with fellow former governor George Allen, who’s looking to win back the seat he lost to Jim Webb in 2006.

Webb, who is retiring, is not attending this year’s convention, but has vowed to campaign for Kaine and President Barack Obama.
