Ryan returns to Virginia Tuesday for Newport News stop

Virginia’s fast becoming vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s second home.

After a campaign stop in Harrisonburg Friday, the Wisconsin congressman will return to the state Tuesday, holding a rally in Newport News at Christopher Newport University.

The event marks Ryan’s sixth swing through the state since Aug. 11, when he was announced Mitt Romney’s running mate at an event in Norfolk.

And Ryan isn’t the only one putting in time in the key battleground state. Romney campaigned in Virginia Beach and Richmond last weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama stopped in Richmond Thursday, and the president is paying a visit to Northern Virginia on Friday.

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Obama leading Romney by five points in Virginia.

Ryan’s Tuesday event will be held at Christopher Newport’s Ferguson Center of the Fine Arts Concert Hall at 5:25 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
