Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign is out with a new TV ad in Virginia and other key states seeking to gain ground among women voters.
The 30-second spot, titled “Dear Daughter,” comes on the heels of a a new NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist poll showing Romney trailing President Barack Obama by five points in Virginia due in part to a 14-point deficit among women.
“Dear Daughter, welcome to America,” a female narrator begins the ad with the image of a woman cradling a baby girl.
“Obama’s policies are making it harder on women. The poverty rate for women – the highest in 17 years,” the ad continues. “More women are unemployed under President Obama. More than 5.5 million women can’t find work. That’s what Obama’s policies have done for women. Welcome daughter.”
