In his latest TV ad on the heels of a strong debate performance, GOP presidential nominee explains how he plans to create 12 million new jobs if elected.
“Let me tell you how I will create 12 million jobs when President Obama couldn’t,” Romney says to start the straight-to-camera ad airing in Virginia and other key states.
“First, my energy independence policy means more than three million new jobs. Many of them in manufacturing,” he says. “My tax reform plan to lower rates for the middle class and for small business creates seven million more. And expanding trade, cracking down on China, and improving job training takes us to over 12 million new jobs.”
“The 12 million jobs Mitt Romney claims his five-point plan would create are the same number of jobs that independent economists say would be created under President Obama’s current policies,” responded Obama campaign spokeswoman Joanne Peters. “On issue after issue, Mitt Romney seems to think he can just make things up instead of leveling with the American people about his plans.”
The ad was released this morning just ahead of two days of campaigning in Virginia for Romney, who will hold a rally in Augusta County this afternoon, and an event in Abingdon tomorrow.
Obama will also be in Virginia Friday, holding an event in Fairfax County.
