The McDonnell administration departures continue, and this week Deputy Chief of Staff Matt Conrad is bidding adieu to become director of government relations for Virginia Commonwealth University.
His last day with the administration is Thursday and he starts at VCU on Friday.
Conrad started in the administration in 2010 as deputy secretary of agriculture and was tapped as deputy to Chief of Staff Martin Kent in June 2011.
He previously served as assistant attorney general and as a special assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia before in 2008 becoming founding director of the Virginia Wine Council. That work led to his administration post.
There are no plans to replace him as the administration nears its January end.
